Feel Well. Do Good.
Join Jamieson Laboratories and Support Wildlife in Need!
Have you ever seen injured wildlife — fox, coyote or fawn — lying by the side of the road? How often have you wondered where you can call to find help from a wildlife professional who will ensure that the animal reaches a veterinarian for treatment?

At Jamieson, our passion for improving human health naturally extends to the well-being of animals. That's why Jamieson Laboratories is a strong supporter of animal welfare groups that use education, conservation and protection to actively promote the interests of wildlife and improve the lives of companion animals.

Jamieson is the lead corporate sponsor of the Wildlife Rescue unit at Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC). The ravines, wooded areas, wetlands and shorelines of Canada's largest metropolitan area are home to a diverse population of wildlife species  — each an important thread in the fabric of Canada's biodiversity. As Canada's largest wildlife facility in the country dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, TWC plays an important part in ensuring the survival of our biodiversity.

Pampered Patients

TWC was the first Canadian centre of its kind to have a veterinarian on staff. It was an essential service. Since opening in 1993, TWC has admitted more than 55,000 animals in need of care. Almost all that arrive are sick, injured or orphaned as a result of conflicts with humans. Today, TWC runs on run a staff of 27 plus the help of more than 300 volunteers, ranging from rescue-response personnel and veterinarians to post-operative caregivers.

Baby on Board
TWC's Wildlife Hotline receive some 30,000 calls each year. Hotline staff offer species and habitat information; recommend humane solutions to nuisance situations; coordinate rescues; and assess calls about injured and orphaned animals. Their efforts result in hundreds of babies being rescued and returned to their parents each year — without spending a night at TWC. Many other orphans, however, are rehabilitated through contact with their own species. They learn appropriate behaviours and skills that will ensure their survival upon release.
Home Sweet Home!
At TWC, patients receive all manner of treatment and supportive care. Specialized surgeries and injury treatment can include dentistry, ophthalmology, neurology and orthopaedics. Supportive therapies range from the care of wounds and injured limbs to specialized feeding and isolated housing. Animals are gradually conditioned for release and acclimatized to weather. The ultimate goal is to release each individual close to the area where it was first found.
