The Super Benefits of Jamieson Omega-3 Super Krill

Krill oil is a powerhouse of omega-3 oils, which combat many of the ailments and diseases associated with aging. While most sources of omega-3 are in a triglyceride complex, krill oil contains highly absorbable phospholipids. These molecules act as natural emulsifiers to help facilitate the digestion and absorption of lipids into the body, making krill oil’s Omega-3 fatty acids up to 95% more bio-available than other Omega-3 sources.
Krill oils are bound to potent antioxidants including Vitamin E, all-trans-retinol-Vitamin-A, beta-carotene and the carotenoid molecules canthaxanthin and astaxanthin. These antioxidants work synergistically with other bioactive compounds in krill oil to prevent oxidation of the oil itself as well as acting as a useful source of antioxidants for the body. Studies show that the antioxidant properties of Omega-3 fats from krill oil are up to 48 times stronger than those of Omega-3 fatty acids derived from regular fish oils.
Inflammation and oxidation are at the basis of almost every condition associated with aging, from diabetes to macular degeneration, cardiovascular disease and arthritis to wrinkled skin. Krill oil naturally combats these aging processes, maintaining health and vigour and fighting disease.
A clinical study from Montreal in the Alternative Medicine Review found that even at lower doses, krill oil was significantly more effective than fish oils at reducing glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDLs and increasing healthy HDLs.
A study from Toronto, published in The Journal of the American College of Nutrition, evaluated 90 subjects with inflammatory diseases, including arthritis and cardiovascular disease and elevated CRP levels (a blood test for inflammation). After 7 days taking only 300 mg krill oil daily, CRP levels dropped by 19% and by 30% at 30 days. Symptoms of arthritis, including pain, stiffness and functional impairment were all significantly improved.
A recent Canadian study found, "Krill oil is so potent that women who took it for three months reported a 51% boost in energy, alertness, memory, concentration and stamina. Almost 100% described having a greater sense of well-being and happiness...with a 31% reduction in aches and pains”. Women also reported an improvement in the look and feel of their hair, skin and nails, along with a 58% reduction in wrinkling, redness and other skin problems.
The potency of krill oil, combined with patient tolerance, lack of fishy aftertaste and clinically proven benefits has secured an important place for this supplement in my Naturopathic practice, and for my personal health.
