Leading by example
"What is the use of a fine house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?"
We’ve borrowed liberally from the great 19th-century naturalist thinker Henry David Thoreau to make a point. What Thoreau wrote nearly 150 years ago in a letter to a friend about the relationship between one’s home and Earth still resonates today as a guiding principle of corporate environmental responsibility.
Since 1922, Jamieson Laboratories has built its reputation as Canada’s leader in advanced health products by harvesting only the finest natural sources. Earth has been good to us, and we remain humble and respectful of the myriad ways in which its riches not only sustain our business but support the health and well-being of all living species.
Committed to pioneering best practices within the natural health products industry, Jamieson defines its environmental mandate with three core principles:
• to
meet all domestic and international environmental regulations and, to the extent that it is practical, to implement initiatives that exceed government requirements,
• to
evaluate the environmental impact of new products, packaging, technologies and operational procedures, and
• to
optimize the use of sustainable materials, such as paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and post-consumer fibre, in our daily business operations and in our relationships with all print, packaging and raw materials suppliers.
