Why Supplements are Essential for Optimal Health

In today’s Globe and Mail, writer Carly Weeks’ article “Are those vitamins doing more harm than good?” falls short of its mandate to guide consumers who want to make educated choices about the benefits of vitamin and mineral supplements.

In today’s world, supplementation is essential for maintaining optimal health. Basic foods, which have been produced in the agri-business model of depleted soils and pick early/ship green, no longer provide adequate nutritional support to combat the lifestyle and environmental stresses the average person faces each day.

Micronutrients found in supplements are essential to vitality, especially in the face of stress and when it’s difficult to maintain a balanced diet. The science of supplementation is one outstanding advance that has helped increase the average life expectancy by nearly 30 years between 1900 and 2000.

For 90 years, Jamieson Laboratories has worked to give consumers the finest natural-source ingredients available. To borrow from Ms. Weeks’s lexicon, our formulas contain “the real thing” with all the nutritional benefits. This is a defining point about Jamieson supplements.

Jamieson takes extra steps unavailable to average Canadians preparing a family dinner. Our scientists evaluate every ingredient for purity, potency and safety. We make only scientific, evidence-based decisions about what we put into each Jamieson product. Equally important, every ingredient that goes into a Jamieson formula is clearly identified on the label, thereby empowering consumers to make informed decisions about the nutrients they ingest.

My question for Ms. Weeks: Does this transparency exist within our food supply?
