At Jamieson, we not only aim to improve the health and wellness of Canadians, but those around the world, too. That’s why we’re excited to announce that we have teamed up with Vitamin Angels on our new Share the Health program!
Jamieson’s partnership with Vitamin Angels through the Share the Health program will provide vitamin A to children around the world who are lacking in this critical nutrient. Deficiency in vitamin A is common in regions where diets are high in starchy carbohydrates such as rice and potatoes, and low in nutrient dense fruits and vegetables. This causes what is known as 'hidden hunger', because although the children may be getting enough to eat, they are not getting the crucial nutrients they need from those foods.
Vitamin A deficiency can cause a weakened immune system, blindness and serious illness. Fortunately, with the help of Vitamin Angels, the effects of hidden hunger can be easily prevented. Only two doses of vitamin A, when given to children in need before the age of five annually, can help prevent this deficiency and its life-threatening effects, and give them the opportunity to thrive.

What is Share the Health?
Canadians are lucky to live in a country with ample access to healthy foods and nutritional supplements. The Share the Health program aims to raise awareness of the role that critical nutrients play in optimal health. The program encourages Canadians to share their health by supporting our partnership with Vitamin Angels and their important work. Join us on Facebook to learn more about the Share the Health program and how your support helps children in need.
What is Vitamin Angels?
Vitamin Angels is a non-profit organization established in 1994 to help at-risk populations in need – specifically pregnant women, new mothers, and children under five – gain access to life changing vitamins and minerals. You can learn more about them and their life-changing work by clicking here.
What vitamins will this program be providing to the 500,000 children?
The Share the Health program will provide vitamin A to children in need. While not a priority in Canada due to our nutrient-rich diets and access to supplements, vitamin A supplementation is considered by UNICEF as a top international priority for addressing hidden hunger in the developing world.
So let’s Share the Health to help make a difference, Canada. Your support can make it happen!
