Toronto, Ontario (August 19, 2013) — The polls are open for Canadians to vote for one of five non-profit wildlife and wilderness organizations. Call for the Wild!, the annual people’s choice donation program, created by Jamieson Laboratories, awards $100,000 to community groups that protect, conserve and rehabilitate Canada’s iconic habitats and species.
The nominated groups represent diverse regions of Canada:
- Vancouver Aquarium Marine Mammal Rescue Centre (British Columbia)
- Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (Alberta)
- BurlingtonGreen Environmental Association (Ontario)
- McGill Bird Observatory - Observatoire d'Oiseaux de McGill (Quebec)
- Hope for Wildlife Society (Nova Scotia)
“Now in its fourth year, Call for the Wild! raises awareness and gives all Canadians a chance to celebrate the dedicated work of these community groups,” says Vic Neufeld, President and CEO of Jamieson Laboratories. “At Jamieson, we’re passionate about the wellness of all living species, as well as the health of our environment. One of our goals is to inspire conversation about the ongoing need for sustainable action, conservation and rehabilitation. We look forward to hearing from Canadians across the country over the next four weeks.
The Call for the Wild! voting campaign runs to September 15, 2013 on Facebook. Throughout the campaign, Canadians will learn information about the purpose and progress of each participating organization. Everyone is invited to post questions and comments about these community groups on Facebook and Twitter. Every vote posted during the Call for the Wild! voting campaign contributes to the total sum each organization will receive from the $100,000 fund.
